Identification marks on these guns are generally to be found as follows:
(1) Name of maker, gage size, and chamber length are stamped on the left side of the barrel near the rear end, and the serial number of the gun on the rear end of the barrel guide. (2) The words “THE SPORTSMAN” are engraved on the right face of the breech bolt of this model gun. (3) The name of maker and serial number of the.gun are stamped on the left side of the receiver. (4) Serial number of gun is stamped on the left face of the receiver tang and trigger plate tang.
